Trichoscopy, a non-invasive magnified assessment of the scalp and hair, supporting trichological and dermatological analysis.
A non-invasive magnified assessment of the scalp and hair, supporting trichological and dermatological analysis. In cosmetology and trichology, the meaning of this term always depends on the context: location, symptoms, duration of the problem, products used, and individual tolerance.
Understanding the concept helps to better comprehend cosmetic descriptions, specialist recommendations, and the mechanisms occurring in the skin or hair. However, it does not mean that self-diagnosis of a single element is sufficient to select a therapy.
It is not worth evaluating a product, ingredient, or procedure solely based on the popularity of the term. Formulation, concentration, method of use, contraindications, and skin condition are what matter. Introduce changes one by one and observe the reaction.
If the problem is severe, recurs, causes pain, intense itching, inflammation, sudden hair loss, or a noticeable change in skin appearance, consult a dermatologist. A cosmetologist or trichologist can support care and refer to an appropriate specialist.
The entry was prepared by Justyna Broda, cosmetologist and trichologist. This material is educational and does not replace diagnosis.
