Occlusion, A layer that limits water evaporation from the skin, created by specific ingredients or dressings.
A layer that limits water evaporation from the skin, created by specific ingredients or dressings. In cosmetology and trichology, the meaning of this term always depends on the context: location, symptoms, duration of the problem, products used, and individual tolerance.
Understanding the concept helps to better comprehend cosmetic descriptions, specialist recommendations, and the mechanisms occurring in the skin or hair. However, it does not mean that independent recognition of one element is sufficient to select a therapy.
It is not worth evaluating a product, ingredient, or procedure solely based on the popularity of the term. Formulation, concentration, method of use, contraindications, and skin condition are all important. Introduce changes one by one and observe the reaction.
If the problem is severe, recurrent, causes pain, intense itching, inflammation, sudden hair loss, or a noticeable change in skin appearance, consult a dermatologist. A cosmetologist or trichologist can support skin care and refer you to an appropriate specialist.
