Salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid with keratolytic properties, used, among other things, for blackheads and seborrhea.
A beta hydroxy acid with keratolytic properties, used, among other things, for blackheads and seborrhea. In cosmetology and trichology, the meaning of this term always depends on the context: location, symptoms, duration of the problem, products used, and individual tolerance.
Understanding the term helps to better comprehend cosmetic descriptions, specialist recommendations, and the mechanisms occurring in the skin or hair. However, it does not mean that independently identifying one element is sufficient to choose a therapy.
It is not worth evaluating a product, ingredient, or procedure solely based on the popularity of the term. Formulation, concentration, method of use, contraindications, and skin condition are what matter. Introduce changes one by one and observe the reaction.
If the problem is severe, recurring, causes pain, intense itching, inflammation, sudden hair loss, or a noticeable change in skin appearance, consult a dermatologist. A cosmetologist or trichologist can support skin care and refer you to the appropriate specialist.
